A note before we start: we make Anchored, so it is listed first. We have tried to describe every other app fairly, using what its own App Store listing says, and to be clear about where another app may suit you better.
What makes a devotional app good for couples
- The same reading for both of you. Shared Scripture gives you something specific to talk about, rather than two separate quiet times.
- A question, not just a reading. A good prompt turns reading into conversation. Without one, many couples read, nod and move on.
- Room for honesty. Answering on your own first, before hearing your spouse, makes it easier to say what you really think.
- Short enough to keep doing. Five to ten minutes a day you actually keep is worth more than an hour you skip.
- Fair pricing for two. Check whether one subscription covers both partners, or whether you each need to pay.
The apps, compared
1. Our app
Anchored: Couples Devotional
By Anchored · Best for: Christian couples who want a short devotional they do together every day
Each day, you both read the same short Scripture and answer one honest question about it on your own phones. Your answers stay private until you have both answered, then unlock together, so the conversation starts from what each of you actually thinks. There are 12 thirty-day series on topics like communication, forgiveness, trust and intimacy, in the King James Version or the World English Bible.
- For couples
- Built entirely around two people: shared daily Scripture, private answers that unlock together, a Couple Journal, Stillness guided prayer breaks and a Home Screen verse widget. One purchase covers both partners.
- Worth knowing
- iPhone only for now, and the full daily devotional needs Anchored Premium (the monthly plan has a 3-day free trial).
2.
YouVersion Bible App
By Life.Church · Best for: Couples who want a free, enormous library of reading plans
The most widely used Bible app, with many translations and a very large library of reading plans, including many on marriage and relationships. It is free and supported by donations.
- For couples
- You can invite your spouse to do a plan with you and talk about each day in the app. The plans themselves are written for individuals, so the couples part depends on how you use it.
- Worth knowing
- Not designed around couples, so there is no shared question or private answers. The size of the library can make it hard to choose.
3.
Faithful: Couples App
By Growth Lab, LLC · Best for: Dating, engaged and married couples who want structured faith habits
A Christian couples app with daily prayers, Scripture, reflection questions and short faith lessons, plus guided multi-day plans it calls "Walks in Faith".
- For couples
- Includes a shared Bible reading experience and an "Us Profile" for tracking progress and milestones as a couple.
- Worth knowing
- Full access to lessons needs its Premium subscription. Requires a recent version of iOS (17 or later).
4.
Lasting: Marriage & Couples
By Lasting · Best for: Couples who want relationship-skills training rather than a devotional
A marriage health app that starts with an assessment and builds a personalized program of short sessions on communication, conflict and intimacy.
- For couples
- Partners can connect and work through sessions together.
- Worth knowing
- It is not a faith-based or Scripture-based app. Many Christian couples use it alongside a devotional rather than instead of one.
5.
Glorify: Devotional & Prayer
By Glorify · Best for: Spouses who each want a rich personal quiet time
A personal devotional and prayer app: a daily reading, a short devotional and a guided prayer, with worship music, a journal and several Bible translations.
- For couples
- Designed for individuals. Couples can each do the daily devotional and talk about it afterwards.
- Worth knowing
- There is no shared couples experience, so it works best for your personal walk with God alongside something you do together.
If you would rather not use an app
A printed devotional on the nightstand works well for many couples. Two long-loved options are Night Light: A Devotional for Couples by James and Shirley Dobson, with a reading for every day of the year, and The Love Dare by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, a 40-day challenge for one spouse to practice love intentionally. A Bible and a single question each evening also works: our questions for couples list is a good place to start.

How to choose
- If you want one short daily habit you do as a couple, choose an app built for two: Anchored or Faithful.
- If you want the most free content, start with YouVersion and pick a marriage plan to do together.
- If communication or conflict is the main thing you want to work on, Lasting is a strong relationship-skills tool. Pair it with a devotional so Scripture stays at the center.
- If you mostly want your own quiet time, Glorify is a good personal devotional app.
